Man fatally shot in Salem
Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon in Salem.
Capt. Conrad Prosniewski, a spokesman for Salem police, said a call for shots fired came in around 3:25 p.m., and when officers responded to 38 Park St., they found a 27-year-old man who had been shot, unconscious, in the alley adjacent to the building.
The man was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead just after 4 p.m. Police said the victim was from Salem, but are withholding his identification until his family is notified.
Prosniewski said detectives are working with “substantial leads” on a suspect, but no one is in custody.
