There’s a goat on the loose in Tewksbury
It's like the Lowell goat all over again.
There’s something about Tewksbury and escaped goats.
About 20 months ago, a goat delighted Bay Staters after it escaped from a Tewksbury farm, roaming the Lowell area and eluding officials for roughly a month. The “Lowell goat,” as it came to be known, even spurred a parody Twitter account and podcast before it was eventually caught.
Well, another goat has escaped.
Tewksbury police tweeted Sunday afternoon that a goat is on the loose, most recently spotted near Main Street and the power lines. According to the department, they received several calls from citizens since Saturday night and officers spotted the goat overnight. The goat’s origins are currently unknown, they added.

And lest locals be concerned, the goat is not dangerous, police advised.
“It is just roaming,” they said in a follow-up tweet.
Apparently taking note of its predecessor’s savvy brand awareness, the Tewksbury goat quickly developed a presence on social media Sunday. It proceeded to taunt police.
@TewksburyPD You’ll never catch me as easy as the Lowell Goat was

In response, police simply asked that the goat stay out of the road.
