The Lenox Hotel in Back Bay announced three new concepts that will soon replace Sólás Irish Pub, City Table, and City Bar.
Sweeney’s will take over Sólás, and The Irving will replace City Bar. A new concept for the City Table spot was confirmed, but won’t be announced until 2025, according to a press release Monday.

Sweeney’s and The Irving will be similar in concept to their predecessors. With dishes like a Guinness beef stew and a corned beef and cabbage sandwich, the press release said Sweeney’s is a “fresh yet familiar take” on Solas Irish Pub.
Like City Bar, The Irving will be the Lenox Hotel’s spot for craft and classic cocktails. Its menu also features shareable small plates like a Fresno chili-seared Gloucester tuna and cold water mussels.

The last day of service for Sólás and City Bar is Oct. 31. Sweeney’s and The Irving will open the following day.
City Table will remain open through the end of the year, and will close in early 2025 for renovations. It isn’t immediately clear what the new concept will be for the space and when it will reopen next year.
Chef Daniel Kenney, whose culinary resume includes time at the Liberty Hotel and Boston Harbor Hotel, will oversee the three new restaurants.
A Lenox Hotel spokesperson said in September the reason for the change was because the Back Bay hotel wanted to bring operations “in-house.” Around that time a WARN notice was filed with the state that impacted 136 employees.
Those employees would “have the opportunity to fill roles at either the Lenox Hotel, or at other Briar Group bars and restaurants in the future,” according to the spokesperson. They also added that the company wasn’t laying off people or eliminating positions.
