These are the best burger chains in the Northeast, according to Yelp
Plus, which ranked spots are offering deals for National Burger Day on May 28.
If you’re looking to celebrate National Hamburger Day on May 28, Yelp says these five burger chains will hit the spot.
Yelp released a first-ever list of the top 25 burger chains in the U.S., including top chains by region. The top five ranked in the Northeast include Shake Shack, Habit Burger & Grill, Five Guys, Wahlburgers, and Red Robin.
The review website identified brands with more than 100 locations across multiple states in the restaurant category, and included “burgers” as a primary category.
Yelp’s top burger chain in the U.S. is In-N-Out Burger, a West Coast gem that has yet to grace us with its presence. But in the meantime, some of the nation’s best burger chains can still be found right here in Mass.
With 16 locations across Mass., Yelp named Shake Shack as the top burger chain in the Northeast. The institution began as a hot dog cart in New York’s Madison Square Garden back in 2001, and has grown to be a national favorite, featuring both classic and unique burgers and shakes, as well as monthly and seasonal specials. Shake Shack made the no. 3 spot on Yelp’s national list, and was described as a chain that “brings gourmet flair to the fast-casual
burger world, with a focus on high-quality ingredients and chef-driven recipes.”

The restaurant is offering a different free burger deal each week this month. From May 19-25 you can snag a free Avocado Bacon Burger when you make a $10 purchase with code BURGERMONTH. From May 26 through June 1, get the same deal but with the classic Shack Burger.
With one outpost in Mass., Habit Burger & Grill is located in Wilmington. The chain, which made the no. 2 ranking nationally, serves a variety of burgers, sandwiches, salads and more. “Habit Burger has built a loyal fanbase with its smoky, flavorful patties, chargrilled to perfection over an open flame, and a commitment to fresh ingredients,” Yelp wrote.

Five Guys has over 40 Mass. locations and Wahlburgers has six, two of which are located in Logan Airport.
Red Robin, which has five Mass. locations and made no. 10 on the national ranking, is also offering promotions for National Hamburger Day. Enter to win a variety of prizes, including free burgers for a year, a vacation to Mammoth Mountain, and more. It is also serving a special menu for the month, the “Backyard BBQ Bash Menu,” with lots of barbecue-inspired dishes including a BBQ pork burger and nachos.
