New Movies Streaming

‘Jerry West: The Logo’ (2026)

One of the great antagonists in the Celtics-Lakers rivalry, Jerry West did everything for the Lakers across five decades, whether as a player, coach, scout, general manager, or front office executive. The inspiration for the NBA logo, West passed away in 2024 shortly after being elected to the Hall of Fame for a third time. West gave his final interviews for this documentary, as did NBA greats like Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal, and more.

‘Noah Kahan: Out of Body’ (2026)

Noah Kahan’s runaway success can be primarily attributed to the catchiness of hits like “Stick Season” and “Northern Attitude.” But at least part of the Vermont native’s charm is his openness and vulnerability, which he willingly puts on display in this Netflix documentary, timed to the release of his upcoming fourth album. Kahan is at the peak of his powers, but he still beats himself up over every perceived slight and wonders when the ride will all be over. Given that all four of Kahan’s Fenway Park shows this summer sold out almost instantly, the ride isn’t stopping anytime soon.

New TV Shows Streaming

‘Beef’ Season 2

I’m currently halfway through this eight-episode season, and can’t wait to find out what fresh hell this season’s two central couples — country club employees played by Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Cailee Spaeny and Charles Melton — will put each other through. Lee Sung Jin’s anthology series goes further than “The White Lotus” in showing how America’s current wealth disparity is utterly inhuman.

‘Euphoria’ Season 3

In all honesty, I didn’t love the first episode from the new season of Sam Levinson’s buzzy drama. The characters that once had East Highland High School as a natural connection point are now increasingly detached from each other’s lives. Rue (Zendaya) is a drug mule, Nate (Jacob Elordi) and Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) are arguing about OnlyFans, and Lexi (Maude Apatow) is working on a TV show. Maybe they and the other characters will realign at some point, but that remains to be seen.

‘Taskmaster’ Season 21

Following in the footsteps of Nahant native Jason Mantzoukas, comedian Kumail Nanjiani (“Eternals”) has crossed the pond to become the second U.S. resident to compete on this British panel show, which is a cross between “Whose Line Is It Anyway?,” a late-night talk show, and an escape room. The other big name on this season is Armando Iannucci, the creator of “Veep” and other satires like “The Thick of It” and “The Death of Stalin.”
