Leighton Meester’s Fleetwood Mac cover is not half bad
No, really.
Leighton Meester lent her voice and guitar strumming skills (who knew?) to pal Dana Williams’ cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams.’’ The duet of the 1977 classic is an ideal tone setter to welcome in the warm weather and hopefully sets the bar for Meester’s future musical contributions.
The “Gossip Girl’’ starlet may have the legacy of Blair Waldorf to rely on forever, but her attempts to cross over have often found her at the butt end of a joke, including the 2010 country music drama “Country Strong,’’ co-starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim McGraw, and her 2009 dance single “Somebody to Love’’ featuring Robin Thicke — hahaha. But honestly, the cover is quite good and could be a game changer for the newly wed actress. Maybe husband Adam Brody can even lend his skills on percussion in her next attempt. We’ll wish list it.
Williams’ new EP, The Lonely One, dropped yesterday and is available on iTunes.
