Oscars 2015: Where to Watch Best Picture Nominees Around Boston This Weekend

If you missed out on seeing any of this year’s Best Picture nominees, there’s still time to catch up before Sunday’s big ceremony.

The 2015 Oscars has a stacked list of nominated films, and you can still see many of them at theaters around Boston.

And if you don’t feel like leaving your warm and cozy couch for a cold trip on the T, there are a number of nominees already available on video streaming services. Cue the popcorn and Snuggie.

American Sniper

The controversial biopic about decorated U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle is nominated in six categories including Best Actor for star Bradley Cooper.

Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)

Boyhood

Nominated in six categories, it took director Richard Linklater 12 years to film this coming-of-age story about a boy growing up with divorced parents in Texas.

The Grand Budapest Hotel

Another quirky masterpiece from the mind of director Wes Anderson, The Grand Budapest Hotel is nominated in eight categories at this year’s Academy Awards.

The Imitation Game

British heartthrob Benedict Cumberbatch turns in another fine performance, this time as Alan Turning, the cryptanalyst who helped Allied forces solve the Nazi’s Enigma code during World War II.

Selma

A lot of people were bummed that director Ava DuVernay’s biopic on Martin Luther King Jr. didn’t get more love from the Academy. Regardless, the film is still nominated in two categories, including Best Original Song.

The Theory of Everything

Eddie Redmayne earned a Best Actor nomination this year for his impeccable portrayal of famed theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking.

Whiplash

Who would’ve thought a movie starring that guy from those Farmers Insurance commercials and that bro from high school party movies like Project X would be such a hit with critics? Whiplash is nominated in five categories this year, including a Best Supporting Actor nod for J.K. Simmons.
