Nia Vardalos Producing ‘Big Fat Greek Wedding’ Sequel
In 2002, the world fell in love with a 30-year-old frumpy Greek woman named Toula while simultaneously watching her fall in love with boyfriend-turned-husband, Ian Miller, in “My Big Fat Greek Wedding.’’
We’ve got news: the love affair is about to grow. The star couple (played by Nia Vardalos and John Corbett) from the big-screen hit will be back in theaters pretty soon.
Vardalos, who wrote and starred in the first film, has written a sequel according to The Hollywood Reporter, which will be produced by Vardalos herself, along with Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman.
No word yet on who will direct the sequel. Joel Zwick was at the helm of the first installment, which grossed $241 million at the domestic box office.
