Disney Releases ‘Cinderella’ Live-Action Teaser Trailer
Talk about a tease.
Disney released its first “look’’ (and we use that term lightly) at the live-action “Cinderella’’ film due out next year and there isn’t much to look at.
The whole thing is set to a minute-plus of ethereal music and revolves around a spinning, shimmering, prism-like glass slipper. And there’s a butterfly at the end. That’s it.
Does anyone remember a butterfly from “Cinderella?’’
The movie will be directed by Kenneth Branagh, who was at the helm of “Thor’’ in 2011 and “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’’ this year. Branagh is no stranger to fantasy films. He played Gilderoy Lockhart in “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.’’
According to IMDB, Cinderella will be played by “Downton Abbey’’ actress Lily James, the typically wicked Helena Bonham Carter will take on the role of Fairy Godmother, and Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett will play the wicked stepmother, Lady Tremaine. James will be paired on-screen with former “Game of Thrones’’ actor, Richard Madden, Cinderella’s Prince Charming.
Will this film hold a candle to “Ever After?’’ We doubt it, but we’ll watch it anyway.
