Steve Carell trolled everyone by saying ‘The Office’ was coming back

The Acton native was doing his part to promote another classic NBC comedy's return.

At 3:57 p.m. EST on Wednesday, the world stood still for comedy fans.

Acton native Steve Carell, who played bumbling manager Michael Scott on the beloved NBC comedy The Office, tweeted to his 4.97 million followers that the show was coming back.

But the actor dashed dreams of a Dunder Mifflin reunion only six minutes later when he corrected his “typo.”

Carell was referring to the long-rumored return of Will and Grace, which NBC confirmed on Tuesday would be coming back for a 10-episode run.

After the furor died down Thursday, Carell tweeted one more time, blaming the whole saga on his longtime Office nemesis.
