Gronk has a good excuse for snubbing Chris Evans’ invite to the ‘Captain America’ premiere
“I didn’t blow off Captain America.”
Despite Rob Gronkowski’s propensity for party rocking, nothing gets in the way of his personal training—even a party invitation from fellow Boston bro Chris Evans.
When Evans went on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote Captain America: Civil War in April, he mentioned that Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola were coming as his guests. Evans said that he invited Gronk as well, but the Patriots tight end never got back to him.
“I did invite him,” Evans said “He couldn’t… I don’t know if he could make it. I actually didn’t hear back. You know what, Gronk? I’m putting that on you. I didn’t hear back.”
A month later, Gronk tried to explain himself in a DraftKings video with Fox Sports 1 personality (and Framingham native) Katie Nolan.
“I didn’t blow off Captain America,” Gronkowski said. “He asked me to go to the premiere three months ago. I would have loved to go to the premiere [and] see the movie with him. He’s a cool dude, I’ve met him before, but I was training in Miami with my brother, [and] it was just a little bit too much on my body.”
Gronk also claimed in the interview that he texted Evans to let him know he wouldn’t be making it, but seemed a bit confused on how to spell the word “dawg.”
