‘Beetlejuice 2’ – Now With More Winona Ryder
It’s well known that Michael Keaton and Tim Burton are all in on a “Beetlejuice’’ sequel. But now comes confirmation that the movie is definitely a go, and will include the original mean girl herself.
“Oh yeah,’’ Burton said, when MTV News asked if he’d be directing the sequel. And his response to the question of whether or not Winona Ryder would return?
“Oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah,’’ he said. “Oh yeah, oh yeah. Yeah yeah, oh yeah.’’
Burton, the director of the classic 1988 comedy, is still waiting for a script for the sequel. However, he recently worked with Ryder on a video for The Killers. He told MTV News that working with Ryder helped influence his decision to launch the sequel.
“I worked with [Ryder], I hadn’t seen her in awhile… and she was so great,’’ Burton said. “I was so happy to see her. So those kinds of elements mean something to me. Michael, and her… and that character, I just miss it, there’s some freedom about that character that I love.’’
Ryder will likely reprise her role as Lydia Deetz – the original “I see dead people’’ adolescent actor.
No word on whether Geena Davis or Alec Baldwin will return for the sequel. Nor do we know if Ryder is still “a hurricane in all kinds of weather.’’
