In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston. If you’re running the marathon, you can share your story here.

Name: Daniel Rossignol
Age: 27
From: Sunnyvale, Calif.

In 2017, I had the honor of serving at Rosie’s Place for my AmeriCorps Legal Advocates of Massachusetts service year. Although my service year ended in 2018, I have continued to serve Rosie’s Place through volunteering, donating, and their Young Professionals Network.

I am excited to take these next gigantic strides in serving Rosie’s Place and its guests. During my service year, I witnessed the remarkable work Rosie’s Place does on daily basis, from providing a morning cup of coffee to legal representation on complex legal cases. Also, I learned the history of Rosie’s Place as the nation’s first women’s shelter and how it has grown into a multi-service sanctuary for all women. Their radical compassion and mission are truly profound.
