From: Canton, Mass.
I am a member of the Miles for Miracles team and I’m raising money for Boston Children’s Hospital. I am running to ensure that children everywhere can have access to world class healthcare and also in support of the brilliant healthcare professionals and research scientists that put their heart and souls into their work and are dedicated to ensuring that every child is healthy and thriving. I have been a runner since high school, and I was inspired to run the Boston Marathon by our experiences at the hospital.
Our relationship with the hospital began when I was pregnant with one of my children. There were some serious concerns after our 18-week anatomy scan and we were referred to what is now known as the Fetal Care and Surgery Center. From there, we were connected with the multiple departments that were necessary for diagnosis, treatment and follow up care of a very rare but lifelong condition. We have endured many appointments, surgeries, setbacks, emergencies, and fortunately, victories! This will one day be a story for my child to fully tell, but Boston Children’s Hospital has provided world class multidisciplinary care that has allowed our child, and many others, to live a life without limits. For this, we have tremendous gratitude and I’m thrilled to help the hospital by running and fundraising.
