Are you running the 2025 Boston Marathon? Share your story with us.
We want to know what inspired you to run Boston.
The countdown to the 129th Boston Marathon is underway, and athletes from across the globe are gearing up for the historic race.
The 129th Boston Marathon will take place on Monday, April 21, 2025 and will be held on the 250th anniversary of Patriots’ Day.
More than 36,000 qualifier applications were received this year, a record and significant increase from the 33,058 qualifier applications last year, according to the Boston Athletic Association. Residents of all 50 U.S. states (plus Washington, D.C. and additional U.S. territories) were accepted into the 129th Boston Marathon, as were citizens of 118 countries.
For those who will take the 26.2-mile journey from Hopkinton to Boylston Street, it’ll take preparation, determination, and a cause worth running for.
Whether you’re running the race as a qualifier or on behalf of a participating charity, you’ll be in the company of an inspiring group of people. Each year, Boston.com shares stories from marathoners tackling the historic race, many of whom are raising funds for causes close to their hearts, to honor their loved ones, and achieve lifelong goals.
As we approach the race, we want to hear from this year’s athletes: Why are you running the 129th Boston Marathon? 🏃
