The military and sports have both been large parts of my life. The principles of honor, respect, and being a part of something bigger than yourself are ingrained in both. These values have helped to shape me into the man I am today.

My brother, Brandon, was killed in Iraq in 2004; where he saved his platoon and he was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and two War on Terrorism ribbons. In a way, it has guided me to where I am now. Since then, I have always looked at things as “the glass half full” and try to live life seeing all the positives.

I have become an avid runner and always look to push myself in different ways. I now have the opportunity to run in one of the biggest races there is: the Boston Marathon. In life, we all run and live our own races; some of us have a finish line in sight, and others have no idea when that finish line might come. Not only am I running to push myself, but also for Semper Fi & America’s Fund. In this race, I am able to honor and keep my brother’s memory alive and also help other military families in times of need.
