In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon athletes share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston. Looking for more race day content? Sign up for Boston.com’s pop-up Boston Marathon newsletter.
As a lifelong, casual runner, I started running marathons in 2021 after moving to New York City and joining the American Cancer Society’s Team Determination for the NYC Marathon. I was instantly hooked. The friendships I made through training motivated me to keep racing—including back-to-back Berlin and NYC Marathons the following year.

My goal is to run all the majors, and so far, I’ve completed New York, Chicago, and Berlin. Now, moving back home to Boston, the 2025 Boston Marathon feels like a homecoming for me.
This year, I’m running for Boston Medical Center, aiming to raise $10,000 to support its mission to close race-based health inequities and provide innovative care. BMC’s impact on the Boston community is unmatched.
Like in NYC, I’ve started to build my Boston running community through Team BMC’s group runs on Saturdays and Tuesday sessions with Boston Road Runners. I’ve always found the running community to be incredibly welcoming, and I love connecting with others who share this passion.
