Emily Weimer continues to run and raise funds to support pediatric cancer.
In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon athletes share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston.
Name: Emily Weimer
Age: 29
From: Boston
I’m running the 2025 Boston Marathon for the MGH Pediatric Cancer Team because I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible strength of children battling cancer. As a nurse in the Pediatric ICU at MGH, I have the honor of working with these amazing kids every day. Their strength and bravery inspire me, fueling my passion to support the critical work being done at MGH to fight pediatric cancer.
This isn’t my first marathon for this cause. In 2023, I ran the New York City Marathon for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit that funds pediatric cancer research. That experience solidified my commitment to raising funds for innovative treatment and ultimately, a cure.
Every step I take in the Boston Marathon will be for the kids and families who are facing so much. I’m proud to be running for the MGH Pediatric Cancer Team, and I’m excited to be part of a community working together to make a difference in these kids’ lives. Every dollar raised will help fund life-saving research and provide hope to families facing these unimaginable challenges.
Running this marathon is my way of giving back and showing my support for the amazing work being done at MGH. I’m honored to be part of the fight.
