Christmas Eve will be a mild, quiet day before a powerful storm moves in late at night.

Forecasters expect mostly cloudy skies on Thursday with high temperatures reaching the 50s in many spots.

A storm arrives late Christmas Eve into Christmas morning that is expected to bring heavy rain along with strong — and potentially damaging — winds. The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning from midnight Thursday evening through 4 p.m. on Friday. Wind gusts could reach 70 miles per hour in some spots, and power outages are expected.

Temperatures could top 60 degrees on Christmas morning, but will plunge into the 30s by midnight.
