Winter arrived early, but we’ll get a very quick break this weekend
Here's David Epstein's weekend weather forecast.
Winter has arrived early, folks
.
On the heels of the region’s first widespread snowfall, Friday and Saturday will briefly turn more mild before next week brings cold temperatures and the chance for a few flakes.
Here’s your complete weekend weather forecast.
Friday starts rainy but clears out.

It will be chilly west of Boston on Friday and milder to the south.
In Greater Boston, we’ll see a period of steady rain Friday morning before clearing moves in Friday night. There won’t be any precipitation on your ride home Friday. I don’t expect temperatures to fall dramatically, so I’m not looking at a flash freeze, either.
Highs around Boston will reach the mid 40s.
Saturday is the nicest day of the weekend.

Saturday brings seasonably chilly air with sunshine.
Temperatures will be near freezing by Saturday morning, so there could be a few icy patches leftover. The day features a lot of sunshine with temperatures generally in the 40s. This is still below average for the time of year, but it’ll end up being one of our mildest days over the next week, so enjoy it. Winds will be light.
Sunday is cold.

Sunday will be the coldest day of the weekend.
Sunday brings a blend of clouds and sunshine. It’ll be a little cooler, staying around 40 to middle 40s toward the Cape and islands.
Another storm system will brush the region on Monday, bringing a few rain and snow showers. We’ll have to keep an eye on this over the weekend to see if it evolves into anything more than just a nuisance. Temperatures after that system will be very cold, and there may be a day next week when readings stay in the 20s.
