This weekend will be mostly rain free but not very warm

This is the first weekend of meteorological summer, which began Thursday, and most of it looks dry and close to seasonable.

However, the weekend isn’t without its weather issues.

Friday will be similar to Thursday with sunshine giving way to some afternoon clouds and a chance of a few pop-up showers or storms. Most of you won’t see any rainfall, but some of you could.  Temperatures Friday afternoon will reach the upper 60s to perhaps near 70, but definitely cooler than Thursday.

Temperatures around 70 Friday afternoon will be common.

Saturday will be dry but have some clouds.

I am not expecting any rainfall Saturday, and this will be the pick of the two weekend days. Highs will reach the 61-66 degree range, certainty too cool for most of you to go swimming, but rather nice for many other outdoor activities. There will be a bit of a breeze at times in the afternoon. I also expect some clouds to occur, especially early in the morning, but plenty of sunny hours as well.

Warmer, but becoming cloudy Sunday.

Our next weather maker arrives Sunday night and Monday.  This will give us beautiful morning sunshine Sunday with cool air and bright skies. Temperatures will warm quickly and reach the upper 60s to lower 70s as clouds slowly increase in the afternoon. Any precipitation will hold off until Sunday around or after sunset.  If the system moves faster, we could see showers earlier.

Rain will spread eastward later Sunday and then continue into Monday.

Cool, raw, and wet next week.

I suggest you get in some outdoor time this weekend as a slow moving series of low pressure systems will bring back clouds and very cool weather Monday through perhaps Wednesday. We could see another inch or two rainfall with highs during this period struggling out of the 50s. There will be little or no sunshine, and it’s going to feel more like March at times. The pattern will break late in the week, hopefully giving us a good weekend for the second one of June.
