Nearly ideal mid-May weather for the weekend, but showers come back Monday
Sunshine and more comfortable temperatures return this weekend.
Record heat on Thursday was a bit much for some of us as the mercury soared to the mid-90s. On Friday, a cold front will pass through the area, with humid air this morning on the eastern side of the front and drier and cooler air on the backside for tonight. As the day progresses you’ll notice the air becoming more comfortable, and although temperatures will reach the 80s, that will be at least 5-10 degrees cooler than Thursday.Prom perfect
There are a lot of outdoor activities this weekend, and if your plans call for a attending or participating in a prom or just taking pictures, the weather will cooperate. Actually no matter what you are doing I am liking the forecast for the entire weekend. Saturday morning will feel cool, but during the afternoon, highs will reach the 60s inland and upper 50s at the coast. You’ll need a light jacket in the evening if you are headed out and will be walking around.

Much cooler air arrives this weekend with temperatures rather chilly at the coast with a sea breeze.
Graduation ready
This Sunday is the day we all wanted Mom to have last week. As high pressure holds our weather in its grip, sunshine and pleasant temperatures will continue. You’ll notice a 5-8 degree increase in temperatures on Sunday, most notably along the coastline where readings get back into the 60s. I expect plenty of sunshine again with just a few afternoon clouds on the western horizon.

A beauty of a day on Sunday with highs nearing 70 in many towns.
Strong May sunshine and long days
Our sunsets are now post 8 p.m. and will remain there until early August. The sun is very strong in terms of the ultraviolet light reaching us this time of year. If you are going to be outside for any extended period of time be sure to use plenty of sunscreen. The strength of the sun is independent of temperature. Tides are high this weekend around 8 a.m. and again around 8 p.m in the evening.
Some wet weather comes back Monday, but it doesn’t look like a complete washout. It will still be fairly mild.
