This is usually the warmest week of the summer. Here’s what to expect this year.
The heat will continue, and there won't be much rain.
When anyone asks me which week I recommend for vacation, I tell them the third week in July—in Boston, the period from July 16 to July 23 is, on average, the warmest week of the year. It’s not so much that the week before or after is really much different, and it might be even hotter next week, or one week in August. But if you strictly go by averages, this is the warmest one.
This week, the average high temperature in Boston is 81.8 degrees, and the average low is 66 degrees.

As if right on cue, high pressure is going to slip into its summer position and set up camp.
There is a chance of a few showers Monday night or Tuesday, but these will follow the same pattern we’ve seen all summer: They won’t amount to much.
As the high pressure system parks itself to our southeast, a flow of very warm and tropical air will ensue. That means the pattern of heat and humidity will stay in the area. Even when it breaks for a few days, it will quickly come back. You can see the high, or H, moving south and off the coast of the Carolina’s this week. This is very typical for July and the first part of August.

Don’t worry if you are working this week or next and have waited until August to take your vacation. Average temperatures fall very slowly. It takes about two weeks for the average to even fall one degree! Some of the hottest readings ever recorded in New England have come during August.
