Weekend weather: What you need to know for every activity you have planned

Another couple days of stunning weather are on the way.

Here we go again! What a fantastic weekend of weather we have ahead. It’s not going to matter what you are doing outside—the weather will cooperate. The dry spell is creating water issues, but it’s also limiting any cancellations of outdoor events. Whether you’re attending a wedding or a road race, the weather will be nearly ideal for late June.

The sea breeze on Sunday will be noticeable on south-facing beaches, and there could be a spot or two of early morning fog on Saturday, but honestly, I’d be nitpicking to find anything at all wrong with the upcoming weekend forecast.

The lack of rain needs to be acknowledged, but it’s the weekend and, as I can’t make it rain, we might as well get outside and enjoy the sunshine.

If you’re going hiking, biking, or running…

On both Saturday and Sunday, coastal areas will be cooler, and the low humidity will bring about morning low temperatures that will be comfortable. After 11 a.m., it will be quite warm, especially on Sunday, when many areas will be in the 80s by that hour.

Project high temperatures Saturday

Projected high temperatures for Saturday, June 25.

If you’re going beaching and boating…

Northshore, New Hampshire Seacoast, and Maine: Southerly winds all weekend will keep the south coast coolest, but the winds will be generally on the lighter side. Afternoon breezes should pick up enough for some good sailing this weekend.

Cape Cod and the Islands: There won’t be much difference across the New England coast this weekend. Water temperatures are always warmer farther south and especially in enclosed bays, where they should reach well into the 60s this weekend.

Tides are high around the 4 p.m. hour, give or take 30 minutes. It’s not a particularly high tide this weekend.

Projected Highs On Sunday

Projected high temperatures for for Sunday, June 26.

If you’re playing soccer, softball, baseball, or golf…

Saturday’s forecast: Picture perfect weather with dew on the fields early. The dry weather will have the golf ball rolling quite far in the afternoon after the morning moisture has disappeared.

Sunday’s outlook: Another stellar day with abundant sunshine. Temperatures in the 80s after 12 p.m. will feel quite hot during activities. A touch of humidity will get added to the air on Sunday, as well.

If you’re gardening…

Water and weed—those are the two tasks for the weekend, with an emphasis on watering. Containers can dry out in a day or even half a day if they are small. You’ll want to be sure to keep the moisture levels high so you aren’t seeing wiling plants.

If you’re running errands…

With little cloudiness and no rain in store for the weekend, daytime errands will take you out of the sunshine no matter when you run them.

If you’re going to a professional sporting event, wedding, or outdoor party…

Just like last weekend, rain won’t be a factor. The sun is your biggest issue during the middle of the day at any venue that doesn’t feature shade. A sunburn can occur in as little as 15 minutes this time of year.
