How long will this picturesque spring weather last?
If there were weather awards, Wednesday would almost certainly win for best in show, at least for the month of May. It might even be tied with Thursday, when the forecast looks equally as stellar.
Giving a day a perfect 10 isn’t easy. There is, of course, some preference and subjectivity, but I think most of us could agree that full sunshine, temperatures in the low-to-mid 70s, along with light winds during the first half of May is something to celebrate.
High pressure continues to keep the foul weather south of the Boston region. You might have noticed a few clouds across the southern sky on Tuesday. These clouds were associated with a concentration of rain over the mid-Atlantic, where today will mark the 15th consecutive day of wet weather for the D.C metro area.
The blocking pattern the Boston region was stuck in last week has shifted enough to bring our area back into the sunshine, but it hasn’t shifted enough to move the wet weather out of the South.
The spring jet stream can be very fickle and create all sorts of weather extremes—including tornadoes. Parts of Texas and Oklahoma are under the gun for more severe weather again Wednesday, but a minimal chance of tornadoes gives those folks a chance to take a breath and assess the damage from the past few days.

Severe weather outlook-May 11th 2016
Back here, high pressure remains in control of the weather through Friday. Without any rainfall for several days, the pollen count will remain high.
Unfortunately, the perfect weather won’t continue into the weekend. Two systems will approach and move through southern New England to end the week. Friday will be dry most of the day, but some showers should approach toward the evening commute and continue into the evening.
Saturday brings more clouds, some sun, and another round of afternoon or evening showers. Neither system appears to be big or long lasting, but will impact outdoor activities when they arrive. Saturday morning and Sunday look like they’ll be the driest parts of the weekend.
Sunday is noticeably cooler with highs in the lower 60s, but there will be plenty of sunshine. This cool weather should last into next week.
