The past decade was the snowiest 10-year period in Boston

A whopping 533 inches of snow fell in Boston between the winter of 2005-2006 and the winter of 2014-2015.

We’re all aware of the record-breaking snow that fell in Boston last winter. It turns out, it was the icing on the cake of the city’s snowiest 10-year period ever recorded.

A whopping 533 inches of snow fell in Boston between the winter of 2005-2006 and the winter of 2014-2015, according to a Boston Globereport. But experts say it’s been pretty snowy around here for some time. Our second-snowiest 10-year period ended with the winter of 2013-2014.

“We go through snowy periods. The 60’s were notably snowy,’’ Joseph D’Aleo, chief forecaster for WeatherBELL Analytics, told the Globe. “We’ll get some leaner years.’’
