The Best Photo of Monday’s Tornado
Revere resident Doreen DiRienzo took the photograph of her life on Monday, and she didn’t even know it. She was just snapping photos of the darkest sky she’d ever seen in the area. Or so she thought.
“I’m looking at the sky and I thought, “Never in my life have I seen a sky like this,’’’ she said.
DiRienzo was driving from East Boston and stopped a red light near the Chelsea Street bridge. She sent the photo to her son.
“He said ‘Ma! Did you see the pic you took? That’s the tornado!’’’ she said.

DiRienzo said she’d have turned around if she knew she was driving toward a tornado.
“I’m not a storm chaser. I’m a storm-runner-away-er,’’ she said, laughing.
