⚠️Slick travel & reduced visibilities are being observed. As heavier bands push through the region, expect periods of heavy snow & visibilities dropping to as low as a 1/4mile at times. Please use caution if you must travel. Image courtesy of RI/MA DOT #MAwx #RIwx pic.twitter.com/26IZOT9VdI
[Sunday AM snowstorm update] Here's a look at the latest snowfall forecast. This spans from Sunday morning through Monday evening, though the heavy snow ends just after midnight Sunday. Sleet potential continues to keep totals lower along the south coast. Stay safe, everyone! ❄️ pic.twitter.com/Cz6ty3pwOq

The ongoing major winter storm will expand into the Mid-Atlantic states tonight and then the Northeast late Sunday. Heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain will bring considerable impacts to much of the eastern half of the United States. pic.twitter.com/7TbzLLDJcU

I think it is unlikely anyone in light blue doesn't get a foot, so removed that lower end. Remember, most of this is on the ground by 3AM. MUCH less accumulation Monday. Next 12 hours is height of storm. Enjoy nature's awesomeness and go #Patriots #Weather #Snowstorm pic.twitter.com/d3Au4mOWfQ

If you notice the flakes are very small right now. This is less effective accumulation then we will see eventually when the more dynamic part of the storm moves in. This early snow is caused by the Marine air pushing into the Arctic air. Check out Gloucester and look just west. pic.twitter.com/dt59ufFXjN

If you look closely notice that darker band of blue, moderate snow moving West. That's the coastal front. On the other side of that temperatures are less cold that's clashing with the Arctic air over us and producing the snow a little earlier. pic.twitter.com/Q6kLJg9xcG

Sunday noon snowmap. Most of the accumulation falls now through midnight. Another burst on the backside of the low Monday. pic.twitter.com/yrAVb01u6R

We'll have you covered on #WBZ all day with streaming updates throughout as up to 2 feet of snow falls pic.twitter.com/lukB4Dopzb
That skinny green line just offshore and moving west is the coastal front that will set up. Will bring far eastern Mass up through the 20s and low 30s later today but will stay in the 0s and 10s interior

Looking at sleet potential later today…so far it is advancing a little faster than the WRF has it.
— Eric Fisher (@ericfisher) January 25, 2026
So would still expect it to top our heavy snow along southern CT/RI/MA. Plenty of snow before that happens, though pic.twitter.com/x8sPltBh5x
If you can get around 2 feet in Boston, you've got yourself a very notable snowstorm. It's going to try to get close before all is said and done. #wbz pic.twitter.com/qcKOM5Y3uL
