Forecasters are warning residents of Central and Western Massachusetts to look out for slippery conditions during their ride home from work Monday with ice and snow expected to impact the area.
The National Weather Service is forecasting that a light wintry mix of snow and ice will develop Monday afternoon, largely west of I-495 and north of Foxborough.
The service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the interior portion of Massachusetts, warning of “slippery road conditions.”

“A light glaze of ice and snow accumulation of a coating to an inch are expected, with up to 2 inches over the high terrain,” the service said Monday.
The snow and ice are expected as far west as Pittsfield, as far north as Lawrence, as far south as Springfield, and as far east as Bedford.

The Boston area and southeastern Massachusetts will largely escape the snow and ice, seeing just rain due to a potential high of 37 degrees, though there is a slight chance of snow before 11 a.m. in Boston before the precipitation changes to rain.
According to service forecasters, some rain may linger into Tuesday morning.
“The rest of the week into next Saturday should favor mainly dry weather along with above normal temperatures,” they wrote. “Colder weather returns next Sunday.”
