Red Line Train Stuck Between Quincy Center, Quincy Adams
Update, 1 p.m.: MBTA spokesperson Joe Pesaturo said the transportation agency plans to use a jet-powered blower to remove the snow on the right of way between the stuck Red Line train and Braintree.
“We will couple another train to the disabled train and pull it off the main line in Braintree,’’ he said.
Original Post: A southbound Red Line train is stuck between Quincy Center and Quincy Adams. Several attempts to move the disabled train were unsuccessful, MBTA spokesperson Joe Pesaturo told Boston.com. Pesaturo said the MBTA worked with the Quincy Fire Department to get the 48 passengers off the train. All passengers were taken off the train safely and have been transferred to buses.
The MBTA had already planned to replace rail service between JFK/UMass and Braintree with buses at 10 a.m. Monday morning to allow workers to clear the tracks. Pesaturo says the rail service between JFK/UMass and Braintree is now suspended “indefinitely.’’
