Recent blockbuster snow totals along East Coast may be tied to climate change
Super Bowl Sunday in Massachusetts came with a bout of fluffy snow across the state, with parts of the Commonwealth seeing about a foot of accumulation.
The National Weather Service released a map of the latest observed snowfall totals in Massachusetts as of 7:47 a.m. Monday morning. While most counties saw between four and seven inches, much of Worcester and Norfolk County saw higher totals between six and 12 inches.
At one foot, Norfolk and Sharon have tallied the highest snow total so far. The weather service also reported 11.6 inches in Norwood and 11.3 inches in Quincy.
Western Massachusetts saw the least amount of snowfall, with dustings under an inch.
Observed totals in Boston varied, with 5.3 inches reported at the Logan airport, 6.8 inches in Charlestown, and nearly 10 inches reported by a user in Jamaica Plain.
