Forecasters are predicting ‘oppressive heat and humidity’ in Mass. on Tuesday
“A hot, humid and hazy day in store for Southern New England.”
Massachusetts is in for “oppressive heat and humidity” on Tuesday, with the National Weather Service extending its heat advisory for most of the state through Wednesday evening.
“A hot, humid, and hazy day in store for Southern New England,” the National Weather Service wrote Tuesday. “Today should prove to be the hottest and most oppressive day of this stretch of hot/humid weather.”
Forecasters warned some areas could see “potentially dangerous heat index values.”
On Tuesday, the maximum heat index, or how hot it will feel, could reach triple digits in parts of Massachusetts. In Boston, it may feel as hot as 99 degrees.
“A cold front will sag southward across Southern New England tonight into Wednesday, bringing showers and storms,” the service said.
But the scorching heat and humidity will continue Wednesday, with the heat advisory remaining in place through 8 p.m. for most of Massachusetts.
