Maps: Here’s how hot it will feel in Mass. to start the week
Most of the Bay State is under a heat advisory for the first two days of the work week.
Massachusetts is in for some hot and humid weather to start the week, with Tuesday and Wednesday shaping up to be the most scorching days.The National Weather Service issued heat advisories for most of the state, which are in effect through 8 p.m. Tuesday. On Monday, the heat index, or how hot it will feel, is forecast to reach as high as 94 degrees in Boston.
On Tuesday, the heat indices will range in the mid-to-upper 90s. In Boston, it will feel as hot as 97 degrees, according to the service.
Wednesday will see apparent temperatures from the mid-80s to low-mid-90s.
“Frequent breaks, drink plenty of water,” service meteorologists warned Monday morning. “Don’t leave children and pets unattended in cars.”Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is urging city residents to be cautious during the heat. “As we continue to take COVID-19 precautions, please take steps to keep yourself safe in the hot weather,” Walsh said in a statement. “Whenever you’re out, please wear a face covering, stay six feet away from others, avoid crowds and wash your hands often. If you begin to feel overheated, find a shaded place that’s six feet away from others and remove your face covering.”
Walsh had not yet declared a Heat Emergency for Boston as of Monday morning.
