Maps: Here’s where snow is being forecast in Massachusetts on Thursday evening
“Rain will likely change to a brief period of snow before ending across the interior high terrain.”
The rain that’s forecast to douse Massachusetts on Thursday night could change over to the season’s first snow in parts of the state. A cold front moving into the region will bring with it periods of rain on Thursday afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service said Wednesday. “Rain will likely change to a brief period of snow before ending across the interior high terrain,” service forecasters wrote. “Mainly just a coating of snow possible, but may see an inch in the Berks/highest terrain of northern Worcester Hills.”“Unseasonably cold and windy weather” will follow the precipitation into Friday, with temperatures predicted to “remain well below normal” on Saturday, according to the service.
[Unseasonably Cold Fri and Sat] Rain late Thu and night probably ends as a brief period of snow across the interior high terrain. Main story though will be unseasonably cold and windy weather that follows Fri. The wind diminishes Sat, but temps will remain well below normal. pic.twitter.com/i21RkeRT0l

Mostly Rain expected for SNE THU night/overnight… but a quick flip to snow on the backside of this system possible for central & northern MA. Only minor accumulations, best chance across higher terrain on branches, grassy surfaces. Better bet Berkshires into VT and NH. #WBZ pic.twitter.com/0tGWxd5j4j
