Here’s the timing of the heavy rainfall forecast in Massachusetts

Southern New England is in for some flooding and “strong damaging winds,” according to meteorologists.

Massachusetts is due to get a good soaking on Friday. The National Weather Service is forecasting that heavy rain and strong coastal winds will start late Thursday night and continue through Friday.

“As our Friday storm system approaches confidence is increasing that it will bring flooding and strong damaging winds to the region as well as minor coastal flooding along the south coast,” forecasters said Thursday.

Meteorologists are predicting that most of southern New England will see at least two inches of rain from the storm, and the weather service has issued a flood watch for the region.

While the precipitation will make for a wet commute, the service said it won’t feel like a winter storm. Temperatures will be about 20 degrees above normal, with the high in Boston forecast to reach 60.
