Map: Here’s where the strongest thunderstorms could hit Mass. on Friday

Forecasters are warning that strong or severe thunderstorms could impact Massachusetts on Friday afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service said the strongest storms are expected to occur between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. in the central part of the Bay State.

“Damaging wind gusts are the primary threat, but localized flash flooding is also possible along with a low risk of an isolated tornado,” service forecasters said.

Meteorologists predict a chance of showers in Boston between 1 and 2 p.m., with the thunderstorms potentially arriving after 2 p.m. The chance of strong thunderstorms continues into Saturday, according to the service.

The service expects high temperatures to range from the low to high 80s.
