Here’s when and where thunderstorms are forecast in Massachusetts on Tuesday
Multiple counties in the Bay State are under a Flash Flood Watch.
The heat and humidity Tuesday will give way to potentially severe thunderstorms in the afternoon in Massachusetts, forecasters say. “A line of strong thunderstorms is expected to develop in northwest Massachusetts around noon and then progress slowly southeastward across most of southern New England this afternoon and evening,” the National Weather Service wrote. “Any storms will be capable of producing 1 to 2 inches of rain in less than an hour.”

The service said localized flash flooding and damaging winds are concerns with the sweeping storms.

The strongest storms are forecast in western and northern Massachusetts, and the storms are expected to weaken as they approach southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
“Any severe weather will be very localized,” forecasters said. “Thus not every town impacted.”

After Tuesday’s storms, the rest of the week should be dry.
“Other than perhaps some lingering showers early Wednesday across Cape Cod and Nantucket, dry weather is anticipated the rest of the work week along with much lower humidity including warm afternoons and cool nights,” the service said. “Unsettled weather may return sometime Sunday into Monday along with increasing humidity.”
