Map: Here’s how warm it will get — and when it will rain — on Thursday
Severe scattered thunderstorms could occur during the afternoon.
The summer warmth is forecast to continue Thursday in Massachusetts, with some scattered showers and thunderstorms expected during the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Service meteorologists say most of the Bay State should see temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s. “Partly sunny skies expected today, although there will be more clouds than yesterday with mostly cloudy periods especially across northern Massachusetts,” they wrote. According to the service’s seven-day forecast for Boston, the city is expected to see a high of 84, and there will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m, that could produce heavy rain and gusty winds.
Some isolated severe storms could occur through Friday, but the service is predicting they won’t be widespread.
[Today] Let’s break this down: afternoon showers & thunderstorms expected, some severe, winds the main threat, but not thinking widespread, the atmosphere just ain’t that great for severe weather; heavy rain also a threat, localized urban / poor-drainage flooding possible pic.twitter.com/q5MZNbrsJr

[Today] Several model forecast solutions targeting scattered showers & t’storms ⛈️ across S New England, difficult to nail down exactly when & where; we’re not thinking widespread, more isolated, w/ main threats being strong to damaging winds, heavy rain & possible flood issues pic.twitter.com/vE763x7lwh
