You’re going to want to hold on tight to your hats and scarves Wednesday to brave the cold and wind. The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory that’s in effect from noon until 8 p.m. for most of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Forecasters are cautioning that residents across the states could see winds of 20 to 30 miles an hour with gusts up to 50 miles per hour. “Winds this strong are capable of downing small tree limbs and branches, possibly
causing isolated power outages,” according to the advisory. “Driving can also be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.”In Boston, wind gusts could reach as high as 38 miles per hour. The wind chill will also dip the already icy temperatures into the single digits and teens. The weather service said there is already some “ocean effect snow” falling off the south coast of Rhode Island and Massachusetts because of Arctic air that moved into the region.
