A frost advisory is ahead as temperatures fall across Massachusetts
The weekend is over, and so are those unseasonably warm temperatures — at least for a few days.
Cool temperatures Monday morning will continue to drop throughout the day, leading into an overnight frost advisory for much of Massachusetts, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will fall into the 30s inland and the 40s along the coast as cold air settles over the region on Monday night.
The NWS has issued a frost advisory from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday for most of Massachusetts away from the coast. Temperatures statewide on Monday hovered around the 50s and up to the low 60s on the coast.
“But we have a cold front that’s going to move through today and it’ll move offshore late morning,” said NWS meteorologist Kim Buttrick. “Behind it, we’re going to have winds pick up out of the northwest at about 10 to 15 miles per hour with some higher gusts. That’s going to to bring in cooler temperatures behind the front.”

Following the chilly morning, the state will see a gradual warm up and extended dry period from Wednesday into the weekend.
“We’re going to need to get some rain eventually,” Buttrick added. “This extended dry period, although it’s lovely to have, we do need rain.”
