Baker: Stay Off the Roads Sunday
Governor Charlie Baker gave what he called a “Cinderella report’’ at a press conference Saturday afternoon about the incoming snowstorm.
Baker told reporters that people should be able to go out tonight and make it home safely by midnight before the worst of the storm hits. Still, a parking ban in Boston starts at 10 p.m. tonight and the MBTA has canceled both its late-night Saturday service and all service on Sunday.
Baker stated three times that people should stay off roads in the state Sunday so that crews can clear the snow.
“Unless you have a really good reason to be out tomorrow, we would urge you all to stay off the road,’’ he said.
State Police are pre-staging high water rescue teams on Cape Cod and Cape Ann due to potential flooding in the area, according to Baker. He also said to expect very limited flights at Logan Airport Sunday.
Meteorologist David Epstein is expecting 2-4 inches of snow to fall by 10 p.m. on Saturday, with the total increasing to 6-10 inches overnight.
