What meteorologists are saying about the tornado watch in place across parts of New England, including Massachusetts
A tornado watch has been issued across parts of New England Sunday, including areas of Massachusetts.
The National Weather Service has issued the watch for central, western and northeastern Massachusetts until 8 p.m. Storms that develop could bring damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes, the service said.
Here’s what meteorologists are saying about the potential storms.
National Weather Service: ‘Tornado & Severe Thunderstorm Watches in effect for portions of southern New England into this evening.’
A.J. Waterman, 7News: ‘Tornado watch has been expanded, now includes metro Boston until 8pm.’
Pete Bouchard, NBCBoston: ‘This is NOT a promise of a storm or a tornado, but any storms that form could have rotation to produce a tornado.’
Dave Epstein: ‘Keep an eye to the sky the rest of the afternoon and evening.’
