Map: Here’s how hot it will get Monday afternoon
Massachusetts residents are in for another day of sweltering summer temperatures Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures across the state will reach the mid-90s, with slightly lower temperatures expected along the South Coast.

“Dew points will be in the 60s, which means you will feel the humidity,” the weather service said.
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection issued an air quality alert for a second day, effective from 11 a.m. through Monday night, for potentially unhealthy ground-level ozone concentrations in eastern parts of the state due to the heat and humidity. Sensitive groups, such as people with lung disease, asthma, and children and adults who are active outside, should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors, according to the agency. Boston, Worcester, Plymouth, and Gloucester are among the cities included in the alert.
Monday marks the second day Massachusetts has seen temperatures in the 90s, but the stretch of scorching weather is still a day short of a heat wave. In order to be considered a heat wave, temperatures have to meet or exceed 90 degrees for three days in a row, according to the National Weather Service.

The service forecasts high temperatures will continue Tuesday with possible thunderstorms before milder temperatures move in for the rest of the week.
