For a while, at least, the second day of October will feel like summer. Temperatures will already be in the upper 60’s and lower 70’s at daybreak, and accompanied by a bout of humidity. If you’re south of the Massachusetts Turnpike, those numbers could rise to between 80 and 85 degrees. The day’s conditions will drastically change by afternoon, however, when a strong cold front moves in fast-falling temperatures and scattered showers. Temperatures in the 70’s and 80’s will quickly become the 50’s and 60’s by the end of the day, mixed with winds blowing at around 25 miles per hour. While the evening will see the region dry off, showers and isolated thunder are likely to linger into the evening over the south coast of Massachusetts.
