Here’s your Head of the Charles Regatta weekend weather forecast
Our weather this weekend will continue the pattern we’ve seen over the past several days — sunny bright days and clear, comfortably cool nights. There’s no chance of rain through at least Monday and perhaps even longer as high pressure remains in control of the region. The dry weather has also led to official drought conditions across 31 percent of Massachusetts, parts of Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Maine. This is likely to get worse before it gets better.
Both weekend days will be similarly nice
Both Saturday and Sunday will feature very similar types of weather. Temperatures will reach the lower to perhaps middle 70s across all of southern New England, with the exception of Cape Cod and the Islands, where temperatures will stay mainly in the 60s — still above average for this time of year.
Highs Saturday and Sunday will reach the 70s in most areas.
At night, temperatures will fall back to the upper 40s to mid 50s — comfortable for sleeping and we will not have the same humidity we had last week.
There’s a meteor shower this weekend
The Orionid meteor shower is peaking this weekend, and, if you are so inclined, if you can get somewhere where you are away from light pollution and look up, you are almost guaranteed to see at least one meteor. The best time is between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Saturday and Sunday morning.
Look toward the southeast late at night for potential meteors this weekend.
It’s not the best foliage season, but it’s pretty good
Foliage is also peaking across much of Vermont, northern New Hampshire, and western Maine, and this will be a great weekend to view the leaves. Farther south, there are pockets of color, but we are still seven to 10 days away from peak in the western and northern suburbs of Boston.
