Deval Patrick joins NEC Symphony to honor MLK
Better late than never. Governor Deval Patrick finally joined the New England Conservatory Symphony to narrate the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a performance of Joseph Schwantner’s “New Morning for the World.’’ Tuesday’s concert at Jordan Hall, originally scheduled for Feb. 5 but postponed due to one of this winter’s many storms, also included a performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 “Eroica.’’ The event was part of NEC’s ongoing “Music: Truth to Power’’ festival, which aims to show the role music has played in the human struggle.
