Melrose’s Steve Langton headed to Olympics with US bobsled

Pilot Steven Holcomb and brakeman Steven Langton of the United States competed in the first heat of the two-man bobsled World Cup in Lake Placid, N.Y. last month. Melrose native Langton was officially named to the US Olympic Bobsled Team this week, while his brother Chris, also a member of the US National Team, came up short in his bid for Sochi.

Langton attended Northeastern University, where he ran track and field as a sprinter and a jumper. He used those athletics skills to help him hone his training in bobsledding after graduation.
