A Denver bar has some fun with the Pats

The marquee at the Hornet.

Because the best defense is a good offense, a Denver business owner has gone on the offensive, putting up a marquee mocking Tom Brady and the Patriots. Sean Workman owns The Hornet, a bar located about 10 minutes from Sports Authority Field at Mile High, where the Pats and Broncos will play Sunday. “We’re not really a sports bar, but I said to one of my [waiters], ‘How can we have some fun with the game?’’ The answer: A marquee reading “Brady Wears Womens Underwear.’’ Broncos fans thought it was a riot and pretty quickly a picture of the sign went viral. But don’t hate Workman too much. A Cincinnati native, he’s good buddies with former Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis, who’s married to Julie Brady, sister of the Pats QB. “Yeah, it was slightly awkward, but I talked to Kevin about it and he’s fine,’’ said Workman. “We’re just having a little fun.’’ He got such a good response with the first sign, Workman decided to do it again. “Broncos Light Up Legarrette Like a Blount’’ the marquee now reads, a reference to Colorado’s decision to legalize recreational marijuana use. And there are still a few days before the game. “I don’t know what tomorrow will bring,’’ said Workman.
