Andre Bocelli at MIT for conference on blindness
Famed Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli was in town Friday for a workshop at MIT that showcased the latest advancements for blind and visually impaired people. (Bocelli was born with poor eyesight and became blind at 12 after a soccer mishap.) The daylong event, hosted jointly by MIT and the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, included researchers from the United States and Italy as well as the MIT Fifth Sense Project, which is developing devices for blind and visually impaired people. Italy’s ambassador to the United States,
Claudio Bisogniero, and MIT’s president, L. Rafael Reif, were also there.
