Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen raise money for Vineyard Playhouse
“Cheers’’ actor Ted Danson and his wife, actress Mary Steenburgen, brought the house down with their performance the other night of A.R. Gurney’s “Love Letters.’’ The show, at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, raised over $100,000 for the renovation and restoration of the Vineyard Playhouse, the historic theater on the island. Danson and Steenburgen, who have a house on the Vineyard, got two curtain calls from the enthusiastic crowd that included American Repertory Theater founder Robert Brustein, photographer Guy Webster, home improvement bigshot Bob Villa, Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz, and screenwriter-director Diane English.
